We met upon a rainy stair
I gazed upon his features fair
But there was sadness in the air
That I could walk away!

He turned to me his youthful face
And said "I really need my space"
Which truly put me in my place:
"Then should I walk away?"

He didn't nod or shake his head
But affirmation comes unsaid
And though my core felt cold and dead
I had to walk away.

Turned on my heel into the rain
And swore "I will not call again"
So though it cleft my heart in twain,
I turned and walked away.

I'll not pursue thee any more
I'll turn my eyes from that fair shore
And think my fortune sad and poor
And I shall walk away.

What would be perfect? I'm curious.
