"I'm WHAT?!" Felix yelled, seeming to shake the whole office with his sheer vocal power. "Fired," said his boss, without so much as a blink. "You missed three weeks about a year ago, and while we should've fired you then, we were busy on the Sullivan case, If you'll recall." "Bullshit! That was unused vacation time. And besides, I was in the middle of a divorce! You should at least understand my situation!" " I would if you hadn't hooked up with another man. Now turn in your badge, clean out your desk, and leave my office. You are no longer a part of NYPD." "At least I get to keep the handcuffs," Felix thought.
"You're WHAT?!!" Ray yelled, seeming to shake the apartment with his vocal power. "Fired," Felix said sadly, "They said it was because I missed three weeks about a year ago, around when I met you. Unfortunately, the bass let something slip that I leads to think that that wasn't the reason." What?" Ray said, dreading the coming revelation. "They fired me because I'm with you," Felix said, "And I can't do anything about it because they have an alibi that they can back up by forging records. A court would simply assume that I'm mad about being fired." "That's bullshit, but at least you get to keep the handcuffs." They smiled at each other.
That night, in bed, Ray took a small black box from his bedside table. He was afraid what would happen, but he threw caution into the wind and opened the box. He pulled out a golden wedding band and slipped it on Felix's finger. His boyfriend slowly awoke to his smiling face framed by moonlight. "Felix," Ray said, "We've been together a long time now, and I would go to the end of the earth and back if only to have you with me. You are my everything, and I hope you feel the same way about me. So, Felix Aimes, will you give me the infinite pleasure and happiness of being your husband?"
A long pause, and then Ray heard a small, one-syllable word timidly whispered from Felix's lips. "Yes," Felix was saying. Ray embraced his lover with all of his might, passionately kissing him. Felix returned the kiss, showing his undying love. "If being in love is a crime," Felix thought, "Then I'm happy to be proven guilty."
The End.
