The ordinary day afterwards
Was my day of dysfunction.
Because when I’m on hold, it unfolds

I remember waking up to the sound of my mother's voice one early May morning right after school had officially closed for the summer, I set up in my bed forgetting what my my mom was waking me up so early for then I remembered I am going to the exotic country of Turkey. I just remembered and at that exact moment I jumped out of bed and in under an hour I was ready and out the door. But before I left I kissed my dog goodbye for I would be gone for an entire month. A storm embraced
the buildings along
my view of the city.

I rushed to a friend's
arrival at the airport.
My denim jeans

and jacket were soaked
by the wind and rain
that whipped me.

Inside the cab,
a Celtic voice told me
not to weep for a lost

love, so I held my breath.
My heart grew cold, turned
into a wet asphalt
